The wind map data was developed by DTU Wind Energy as part of a World Bank Group (WBG) project funded by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) under a global initiative on renewable energy resource mapping. The map is an un-validated, satellite-derived estimate of averaged irradiance.
